I love how God works. We don’t always understand His ways, but we know His ways are best.
Clay’s Vision of a Creation Museum
Several years ago, my husband, Clay, told me about how he felt God was leading him to start a Creation Museum. It was just a few days later that I saw the TV show 19 Kids and Counting (I believe it was 17 Kids and Counting, back then), and they were taking a trip to Kentucky to see a creation museum. I taped it for my husband and we got in contact with the Vice President of the Creation Museum at Answers In Genesis. That was the start of our creation ministry.
We were given lots of advice and he mailed us a lot of interesting and well-done material. We became volunteers for them and started the process of forming our own non-profit 501(c)3 with the IRS.
In November of 2012, we completed our application to the IRS and we waited to hear back. After almost two years of waiting, it seemed that it would never happen. Clay decided we should move forward with our plans despite not having the 501(c)3. He knew this was God’s leading and God was bigger than the IRS. I was nervous, and tried to find other avenues. I finally told him that if that is what you feel, God is leading you. Let’s go forward.
The next day, a dear friend gave me a phone number of an IRS advocacy group. I contacted them, and they immediately started a case file. It was just two days later that I received a call from our case-worker. He said that we have been approved, but the letter was mailed to the wrong address!
I feel like God was waiting for us to step out in faith and start the process. When we did that, everything fell into place. We now have our 501(c)3 and launched our website. We are also excitedly moving forward with building The Cross On the Prairie. I look forward to what God will do next. I hope you will help be a part of this exciting ministry.
